SiGMA Africa 2027: what to expect when the industry meets in Cape Town

Cape Town at dusk with Table Mountain and the harbour lights

In February, Cape Town becomes the meeting place for Africa’s gaming industry. SiGMA Africa returns to the Grand Arena at GrandWest from 15 to 17 February 2027, bringing operators, technology suppliers, regulators and start-ups from across the continent under one roof. Here is what to expect.

The essentials

  • Dates: Monday 15 to Wednesday 17 February 2027
  • Venue: The Grand Arena at GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World, 1 Jakes Gerwel Drive, Cape Town
  • Organiser: the SiGMA Group, with the 2027 edition “powered by Alea”
  • Who it is for: operators, platform and game suppliers, payment companies, affiliates, regulators and investors

According to the official SiGMA Africa page, casino operators can register for a free Standard Operator Pass, and C-level executives are upgraded to a Platinum Pass.

What happens over the three days

The programme combines a conference, an exhibition floor and evening events, and ends with SiGMA’s closing party. Around the main programme, the organiser lists:

  • a start-up pitch competition
  • the SiGMA Africa Awards, a gala evening with a charity auction
  • a networking golf tournament and private networking dinners

The charity auction supports the SiGMA Foundation’s projects in Ethiopia and Uganda, including a women’s vocational training programme and school projects, according to the organiser.

Why Africa, and why Cape Town

SiGMA describes Africa as “one of the most compelling growth markets in global iGaming”, driven by mobile phones, a young and connected population and payment methods built for the continent. Cape Town has become the natural home for the event: the City of Cape Town’s Alderman James Vos is quoted on the SiGMA site saying the city’s mission is “to make Cape Town the easiest place to do business”.

Recent editions have also put a spotlight on women in the industry. The first Women in Gaming Africa conference was held alongside the most recent summit.

Planning to go?

February is peak season in Cape Town, so book flights and accommodation early. Check the agenda and registration options on the organiser’s website, and confirm details with SiGMA before you travel, as programmes can change.

SiGMA Africa is one of a run of major industry shows in the coming months, after SiGMA World in Rome and ICE Barcelona in January. You can see them all, with live countdowns, on our events calendar.
