Every January, the global gaming industry heads to Barcelona. ICE Barcelona 2027 runs from 18 to 20 January at Fira Barcelona Gran Via, and the organiser expects around 65,000 people from 179 countries. If you work anywhere in gaming, from a shop in Johannesburg to a start-up in Lagos, this is the show where the year’s deals get started.
The essentials
- Dates: Monday 18 to Wednesday 20 January 2027 (10:00 to 18:00 CET on Monday and Tuesday, 10:00 to 16:00 on Wednesday)
- Venue: Fira Barcelona Gran Via, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona
- Organiser: Clarion Gaming
- Cost: free to attend, with registration through the official ICE website
How big is it?
According to the organiser, ICE brings together around 65,000 attendees, more than 600 exhibitors and more than 300 regulators. It covers the whole industry: land-based casinos, online gaming, lotteries, sports betting and payments. It is also the centrepiece of World Gaming Week, which runs from 17 to 21 January 2027.
What is on the floor
- ICE Conference: sessions for operators on compliance costs, advertising, keeping customers, artificial intelligence, platform security and entering new markets
- Technology, innovation and fintech hall: enterprise systems and payment technology
- MeetMe: dedicated space for buyers and suppliers to meet
- Esports Arena: where esports, gaming and betting meet
- iGB Affiliate: the affiliate and media-buying side of the industry
Why it matters for Africa
ICE is where suppliers launch new games and platforms, and where regulators from around the world compare notes. For African operators and regulators it is a chance to see what is coming before it reaches local markets, and to meet suppliers face to face. The conversations started in Barcelona in January often carry on in Cape Town a few weeks later at SiGMA Africa, from 15 to 17 February.
Planning to go?
Register early, book accommodation well ahead (Barcelona fills up during show week), and plan your meetings before you fly: with 600 exhibitors over three days, a schedule matters. Always confirm details on the organiser’s website before you travel.
